Virtual Field Trips to Religious Shrines:

Virtual Field Trips to the Franklin Institute

This time of year is usually full of amazing Franklin Institute field trips, which create memories for your students that last a lifetime.  With those trips not happening this year, we are providing a number of fun, educational resources that you can share virtually with your teachers, students and their families to bring a little bit of us to you!

Our Franklin @ Home series is dedicated to providing many fun, interesting and engaging activities for K-12 students and teachers.  Here are some highlights:

  • Science Recipes – Simple and interactive lessons that encourage kids to explore at home, using simple materials people can find at home.
  • Spark of Science Videos – Our science interpreters perform some of their favorite experiments by taking complex topics and boiling them down so they are easy to understand.  Whether interested in a specific topic or science in general, these are perfect to share with students and parents alike.
  • Activate Your Brain – Interactive online activities from our Your Brain exhibit, where students can learn about their own brains!
  • Go Live with Our Scientists – opportunities to hear directly from our scientists about COVID-19, observing the night sky, and environmental science issues.
  • Bad Science – Take science myths and see whether we can prove them wrong.

Franklin Institute Exhibits – Here for a list of all of our exhibits for you to create your own virtual field trip!  We even have Educator Exhibit Guides with pictures, activities and examples of what you would learn inside our building!  No field trips this year?  These guides figuratively put you into the museum to get you up close to the science action.

The best way to keep in touch with all of our activities and offerings is by subscribing to our email list.  You’ll be informed about all our new events as we move forward.  Feel free to share this with your educators so that they can send it to their students’ parents, it’s an amazing resource and is totally free!

How do I recognize a planet? How can I spot the International Space Station? How does the sky move? What type of stars can I see? How do I begin looking for constellations? Ask the questions, satisfy your curiosity, and learn from the best!  Tune in LIVE each Thursday evening at 7:45pm ET on The Franklin Institute’s Facebook page.
